Thank You For Visiting My Website. I have been a professional Nature Photographer and Writer for over twelve years. Most of my work comes from time I spend hiking and backpacking in the West where I have hiked and photographed over 15,000 trail miles. I have over 50,000 images on file. My work is shot on 35mm slide film and is not digitally altered. I wanted to share the reason that I am a nature photographer. It did not start with the photography. It started because of an extreme passion for hiking and backpacking, and the overwhelming love for the incredible beauty and serenity found in the wilderness. The feeling I get when I am viewing the awesome beauty while standing on a mountain pass or an alpine peak, or seeing the reflection in a deep blue mountain lake is an incredibly spiritual experience. In the overwhelming aweness, I feel so small yet connected to something so big, a part of the earth around me. As I move along the trail I feel at peace with myself and nature. It’s a feeling I can not get anywhere else, and one I could not live without. I am not a religious person, but I am very spiritual and my trips into the wilderness reconnect me to God and that spirituality. I love a lot of things in my life including my wife, my family and my friends, but my trips into the wilderness give me an appreciation and love for myself. Does anyone else ever feel this way? Photography is just my attempt to share these images and feelings with others. I have a need to do this as I feel that everyone could benefit from a personal connection with nature. Most of the time, I find myself in disbelief of what I am seeing, and I ask myself if anyone else could believe this beauty. So, I try to capture it on film. Through the years my photography has come a long way, and if I am able to share these images with others and as I am now, make a living at it, it allows me to spend more time doing what I love. If not, it doesn’t really matter because it will never affect what is truly important, which is my incredible love for nature. Randall J Hodges
